A lot of people come to me for hypnotherapy as it’s something someone they trust has suggested, yet they do not know what it is or how it works.
Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy that utilises the power of positive suggestion to bring about subconscious change to our thoughts, feelings and behaviour.
Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, that relaxes the conscious part of the mind (the logical thinking part) while simultaneously stimulating and focussing the subconscious part (the area that stores memories, creates dreams and fantasies, and controls our thoughts, good and bad). This heightened state of awareness, reached using skilled relaxation techniques, allows the hypnotherapist to then make appropriate suggestions.
Hypnotherapy is not stage hypnosis. The humour element for us, the audience, is that the subject is under the control of the Stage Hypnotist and doing things that he would not normally do. However, as any honest hypnotist will tell you, under hypnosis you can ALWAYS hear everything around you and you know EXACTLY what you have consented to do. Some of us just want our five minutes of fame in front of an audience……and that’s ok.
How can it help me?
Hypnotherapy can help many issues and conditions and is widely endorsed as a treatment for habit breaking, stress-related issues and for a range of long-term conditions, and in recent years has been gaining steam in the medical world after a recommendation from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recognised hypnotherapy as a treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
Condition/symptoms that hypnotherapy can help with:

Smoking Cessation
This is split into two sessions. The first is a preparing to stop session, where we discuss your smoking habit in detail, and things to do in preparation for stopping. The second session is the personalised smoking cessation session. At the end of this session, I will invite you to throw away any cigarettes you have with you.
Does it work for everyone?
Hypnosis has the capacity to work for the majority of individuals, however, some are more susceptible to suggestions than others. There are no guarantees that hypnotherapy will work for you, but if you keep an open mind, fully committed to the process and trust your hypnotherapist, it has every chance of succeeding.
What will happen in a hypnotherapy session?
I offer a free, no obligation consultation, which will include:
Appointments and Fees
I offer hypnotherapy to adults only. Sessions are typical weekly and last for 50 – 60 minutes.
Appointments are available Monday – Friday 8am – 8pm and I aim to be as flexible as possible to accommodate those working shifts or from home with varying meeting times. Although therapy is usually weekly I understand this does not work for everyone, whether that be timewise or financially, therefore fortnightly is also an option.
